Update on SB2818 SD2 HD3 - Working Group Recommendations to Chapter 341 HRS

The House Committee on Finance recommended that SB2818 SD2 HD2 be deferred, thus choosing at this point to not consider the Working Group's recommendations embodied in SB2818 SD2 HD3.

Welcome! This blog is part of the UH EIS Study as an online forum for stakeholders to discuss issues with Hawaii's EIS system and potential fixes. Hawaii's environmental review system is comprised of Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapters 341, 343, and 344; Hawaii Administrative Rules 200 and 201; and guidance documents. The Study is the result of a request by the Hawaii State Legislature to the University of Hawaii.

The Study has released a report of statutory recommendations to the Hawaii State Legislature. In developing the recommendations, the Study conducted a series of stakeholder interviews with over 100 individuals throughout the state, held a Town-Gown Workshop, met with organizations for follow up discussions, and released a set of draft recommendations for the legislature.

In order to better clarify our findings and ensure we accurately represent concerns from the environmental review community, we would like you to leave comments on the issues raised in the workshop, the overall EIS system, and the Study.

We appreciate your feedback. By contributing your concerns, the Study and its recommendations will be more transparent, stakeholder driven, and successful in recommending solutions to Hawaii's environmental review system.
